Worn In, Worn Out
Newsletter (Digital)
1) I’m passionate about supporting small, independent brands that are creating really dope and interesting things, and are often at the forefront of the sustainable, ethical, and inclusive movements within the fashion industry. I want to spread the word about them far and wide.
2) I get a lot of comments on what I wear. Nice comments, I mean, stuff like “I love your overalls!” and “Where’d you get your earrings?” Anyway, that swelled my head so much that now I think I’m cool and have good taste and possess the authority to tell other people what to buy that will show that they are cool and have good taste.

Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! I missed you! Don’t worry: this is not a gift guide, because at this point it’s largely too late to be buying gifts on the internet anyway, and if you still haven’t figured out what to get your great aunt via the gazillion gift guides viciously elbowing each other to get a gander at your eyeballs, then I certainly can’t help you. I’m all gifted out, I’m afraid! Y’all are tired of reading gift guides, but I’m tired of writing them.
Change of Pace
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! And happy October 🫣😬 what can I say? September slipped away like a bottle of wine…… In the course of writing this newsletter, I’ll oftentimes follow a product to its landing page on the site of an independent retailer stocking a very well-curated selection of wares from small artists and creators.
Charmed, I’m Sure
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! It’s been a while since I ran a guest issue, but it’s something I definitely want to do more of — after all, I’m just one person with one perspective, and there are so many cool people with great taste out there discovering things that I never would’ve come across myself.
Tiny Delights
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! About a year ago I did a roundup of six small, inexpensive little items that were bringing me joy in my everyday life. It seemed to be a hit, so I’m back today with a second installment.
Out and About
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! I knew I was going to have a busy June — a birthday, a vacation, and a trip to visit a friend were all on the docket — but didn’t quite anticipate just how hectic things were going to get, and ended up taking an accidental month-long hiatus. But hey, what can I say?
Late Bloomer
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! April showers bring May flowers, as they say, and there was a lot of rain last month. I’ll always spring for a bouquet on special occasions, but I aspire to become the type of person who brings in a rotating selection of fresh blooms every week, just because.
Back With a Bang
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! You know that feeling when you finally do something that you’ve been contemplating, soliciting opinions on, and waffling over for forever? Well, I do: I got bangs. And um, well, hmm…… the best way I can describe it is that I sort of look like these cats in caps 😅. It’s not bad, in that I didn’t burst into tears the moment I put my glasses back on (a low bar, granted!) But it wasn’t like Oh my god, I love it! I’m a total bangs girly! either.
Come to Light
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! Last spring, I spent an hour on the train criss-crossing through Brooklyn on my way to Head Hi’s espresso bar-slash-bookshop in Fort Greene. Such establishments are a dime a dozen, but I made the trek specifically to check out the art org’s annual Lamp Show, where participants create and submit their own original, experimental lamps.
Rose-Tinted Glasses
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! I’ve returned from Greece, with my shoe soles worn down and my stomach stuffed with grape leaves. I did have 1000+ emails waiting for me upon my return, but it was very much worth it for this view: Also, I wanted to let y’all know that Worn In, Worn Out is now going to be syndicated on Yahoo! I’ve written this newsletter for 5 years now, and made a total of $0.00 from it.
All Greek to Me
Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! At the end of last year, I promised myself I’d plan a trip somewhere bright and sunny while it was still winter, in order to shake off any lingering doldrums. Seduced by images of cerulean-domed churches and magenta bougainvillea, I picked Greece. Well, go figure that the weather would improve right before I jet off, and also turns out Greece and New York aren’t that far apart latitudinally, so at the moment the temperatures between the two are fairly comparable.
