Around her, people stared up at a gash in the north tower of the World Trade Center, smoke billowing from the building just blocks from her home. “What did you see? What did you see?” people were asking one another.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A fire broke out on a passenger ferry in waters off the western Philippines, leaving dozens of people missing, the coast guard said Thursday. At least five people were killed. So far, 42 people have been rescued and efforts are ongoing, so the count of 87 people missing may change, coast guard spokeswoman Commodore Noemie Cayabyab said in a radio interview.

DOVER, Del. - The Delaware Office of Highway Safety urge both drivers and riders to remain cautious on roads ahead of the annual bike week. Delmarva Bike Week brings more than 100,000 motorcycle riders to Ocean City. This year, the event is taking place on Sept. 9 to Sept. 13. The special event zone already took effect on Sept. 8. SELBYVILLE, Del. - A nearly four-acre property in Selbyville could be transformed into a new shopping center featuring retail space and a drive-thru coffee shop, a proposal drawing both support and concerns from people in the area. Plans for the Lighthouse Towne Centre, proposed for the corner of Lighthouse Road and Lynch Road, call for 28,658 square feet of retail space and a 2,000-square-foot coffee shop with a drive-thru. The proposed development could also bring additional traffic to the area.

GEORGETOWN, Del. - La Red Health Center is marking 25 years of serving Sussex County, growing from a telephone hotline into a federally qualified health center that now cares for 15,000 patients. La Red launched in 2001 to help connect people who were new to the area, particularly those with limited English proficiency, with health care services. Since then, the organization has expanded to offices in Georgetown, Seaford, and Milford, along with a mobile health unit.

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The Rehoboth Farmers’ Market will return to Grove Park beginning Tuesday, Sept. 15, with several changes to parking and the setup for vendors. The city said all trucks, vans and trailers used by vendors will be parked and set up in the Grove Street parking lot. The lot will be closed to public parking and through traffic while the market is operating. Only cars and tents will be allowed inside Grove Park.

DELAWARE — Delaware's Supreme Court has reinstated a law restricting firearm access for most adults under 21, reversing a lower court decision that had found the law unconstitutional. The 4-1 ruling Tuesday restores House Bill 451, which generally prohibits people ages 18 to 20 from purchasing, owning, possessing or controlling most firearms. The decision is the latest development in a legal battle that began after Gov. John Carney signed the legislation into law in June 2022.

DELAWARE - A federal appeals court rejected a request by the Americans for Prosperity Foundation to challenge a ruling in its lawsuit over Delaware’s campaign finance disclosure rules. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit denied the foundation’s appeal on Aug. 31. That decision means the case will be sent back to the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware and the lawsuit will continue.
