Welsh Labour Leader Ken Skates MS said he has been “inundated with emails from local people demanding the new Plaid Cymru administration deliver a sustainable solution.” The sector is facing increasing demand amid rising costs, with Hospice UK warning that palliative care needs are expecting to rise by 25% over the next 25 years.

A police appeal has been launched amid growing concerns for the whereabouts of a missing man from Corwen. Bob, 66, has been missing since approximately 2.30am this morning (Sunday, 26 July). North Wales Police describe Bob as being 5’10” tall and is thought to be wearing a red shirt and beige shorts. North Wales cricketers will take on a squad of South African players from around the UK in a well-meaning charity grudge match in aid of local children and families living with life-threatening conditions. Taking place on Sunday, August 30 at Brymbo Cricket Club, the North Wales side will be hoping to maintain their title as champions having beaten their South African counterparts in last year’s tournament.

North Wales Police has applied to Conwy County Council’s planning department, seeking permission to extend its archive store at its Colwyn Bay HQ. The police want to relocate its current recycling storage centre in order to make room for the archive. Consequently, a planning application has been submitted so the recycling centre can be moved to the bowling green adjacent to police headquarters at Glan y Don on Abergele Road.

A reablement service helping people leave hospital sooner has saved more than 350 hospital bed days after expanding to meet growing demand. The Rapid Discharge Service was introduced as a pilot in December 2025 as part of the council’s Reablement Service. It aims to help people to return home safely while longer-term care arrangements are put in place, rather than remaining in hospital.

A Coleg Cambria student has been recognised as one of the UK’s most promising young bakers after earning a place at a prestigious national baking competition. Ella Muddiman was selected to take part in the 2026 Renshaw Cup, joining talented baking students from colleges across the UK for three days of masterclasses, technical challenges and industry workshops in Liverpool.
