(CNN) - Researchers from the University of California-San Francisco have mapped out the ways certain genetic mutations associated with autism can rewire the brain and lead to the condition. The researchers used artificial intelligence and data on tiny brains grown in a lab to generate the new map. Researchers involved in the study hope the molecular map can eventually lead to more targeted therapies for autism.

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF/Gray News) - Netflix’s Death of the Pastor’s Wife documentary series is bringing thousands of new eyes to a Myrtle Beach resident’s death. The Netflix series follows the Mica Francis Miller case. Throughout the three episodes, Mica’s family members and friends allege her estranged husband and former Solid Rock Church pastor John Miller stalked and abused her before her death. Mica’s death in 2024 was ruled a suicide.

SELDOVIA, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) - Four adults died after a small plane crashed into Seldovia Slough Wednesday afternoon, Alaska State Troopers said. Troopers were notified of the crash at 1:18 p.m. The agency sent a helicopter crew from Anchorage and sent troopers by boat from Anchor Point to reach the scene. Troopers said the aircraft, a Piper PA-24, went down in the water and sank completely while en route to Seldovia from Merrill Field Airport in Anchorage.

DHADING, Nepal (AP) — Authorities in Nepal warned of possible fresh flooding on Sunday and urged residents in flood-affected districts to remain on high alert after water levels rose in the Bhotekoshi River. Flood warning notices were sent to people’s phones early Sunday as rescue crews worked to clear a major highway connecting Kathmandu to one of the areas worst hit by Wednesday’s catastrophic floods, which killed at least 800 people and left more than 3,000 missing in Nepal and Tibet.

(CNN) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture says Shanghai Ravioli Corporation is recalling approximately 24,900 pounds of frozen, not-ready-to-eat buffalo chicken products. The products were sold to food service locations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Shanghai Ravioli initiated the recall because the products were not inspected properly. That could result in undeclared allergens or harmful bacteria. There have been no reports of illnesses.

PIEDMONT, Okla. (Gray News) - A high school student was surprised to see her brother, who had been deployed overseas for a year, dressed up as her school’s mascot. Piedmont Public Schools shared a video that showed someone in Wildcat costume dancing during what members of a high school cheer squad thought were mascot tryouts. The person took off the Wildcat head, and a freshman named Taylin immediately recognized him as her brother, James.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AZFamily/Gray News) - A 92-year-old Arizona man accused of attacking and killing his wife had been showing signs of dementia, his family says. John Biggs Jr., 92, was arrested Monday after his wife, 89-year-old Jane Biggs, was found dead inside their home, according to the Goodyear Police Department. He is facing charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - A Tennessee mother is facing multiple child neglect charges after police say four of her eight children were left alone at a dirty home with no air conditioning. Keenia Haynes is charged with four counts of child neglect after Memphis Police say four of her children – a 2-year-old, a 3-year-old and 2-month-old twins – were left home alone Wednesday. Police were called just after 2:45 p.m. Wednesday regarding a child welfare concern.

INDIANAPOLIS (Gray News) - A mother has been arrested after police say she left her infant son behind an Indianapolis strip mall with a note that read “I am unable to keep him, needs a good family.” Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested the baby’s 24-year-old mother Wednesday on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent.
