Tuscaloosa Police’s New Charger Turns Heads Around Town
A striking new patrol car turned heads around Tuscaloosa this week, and it has an unusual backstory: it started out as evidence in a crime. The black-and-white Dodge Charger, wrapped in a dramatic black and white design featuring the face of Chief Tuskaloosa, came to the Tuscaloosa Police Department through a switched-VIN case, according to a Facebook post from the department. Rather than sit in an evidence lot, TPD redecorated the vehicle for use around town with its Police Athletic League.

Alabama junior wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams has been named to the Biletnikoff Award Watchlist for the 2026 season, it was announced Wednesday morning. Coleman-Williams was also named to the Biletnikoff Award Watchlist last season. In his two years with the Crimson Tide so far, Coleman-Williams has caught 97 passes for 1,554 yards and 12 touchdowns. He's also carried the ball six times for 69 yards and two scores, with both rushing touchdowns coming in his freshman season.

Two Alabama Baseball Freshman Named Top-150 on Campus
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Rob Vaughn and the Crimson Tide reloaded their roster over the summer following their first College World Series appearance since 1999, adding a solid transfer portal class while being able to keep the large majority of their recruits from the high school ranks from going to the MLB. A pair of those incoming freshmen earned a spot on D1Baseball and Prep Baseball's top 150 on-campus ranking, recognizing the top 150 freshmen who are joining college rosters this fall.
TRAFFIC ALERT: Multiple Wrecks Closing Lanes This Afternoon

The crash is causing problems for Northbound drivers as those lanes are closed. Another wreck on 459 near McCalla has also caused serious delays; however, reports say authorities are getting that accident cleared, and traffic is beginning to flow once again.
Third Suspect Arrested, Charged With Capital Murder in Tuscaloosa Gun Sale Killing
A third juvenile has been arrested and charged with capital murder in the death of a 19-year-old Tuscaloosa man killed during a gun sale gone wrong earlier this month, according to the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit. As the Thread previously reported, Kaleb Tyrone Rollins, 19, was found shot and killed in the roadway in the 5500 block of East 20th Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 6, near Jug Factory Road in southeastern Tuscaloosa.
