By Gregory Hedquist Of Montreal began their 2026 US tour right at home in Athens, Georgia on the evening of June 19th this year, supporting their newest album aethermead. By Jonas Broom What does home feel like to you? How did your surroundings shape you into the person you are today? Jadasea’s newest project Holly Grove is the manifestation of these questions, and the answers they bring. The newest album by the London rapper is packed with a versatile mix of tracks. The first, starting like a game of Mario Kart 8; Engines revving and tires smoking.

By Alain Cruz This is going to be a mix of my opinions, what I like about each song, and how I personally interpret them. It’s my first time doing a full album review, so it might be a little uneven. If you like this, feel free to… hit the like button and subscribe? I think you can do that here. Maybe. I might be lying.

Review and Photography by Alain Cruz “A mix of Emma Chamberlain’s energy with a songwriter’s heart” is how she was described to me, but I’d describe her as a blend of Laufey and Magdalena Bay. I was lucky enough to see Laufey very early on, before she blew up, and I got that exact same feeling watching Em. There’s just something so captivating and charming about her that immediately pulls you in.

By: John Faussemagne The following is something I wrote during my freshman year of college in December of 2023 while residing in Washington, D.C. I would also like to add that all photography was taken during the course of my review, which is why it appears so shaky. When Honestly, Nevermind by Drake came out, it was critically panned. However, one specific commentator in the hip-hop community defended Drake under the pretense that everyone wasn’t listening in the right space.

By Gregory Hedquist Stoking the embers of their 2024 debut album “If There’s a Heaven” along with their still fresh singles “Find Somebody” and “Stay for the High,” New York City’s “Melt” rode to Athens this past April for a stop on a relentless and encompassing North America tour. On the evening of April 28th, me and a friend (fellow WUOG staffer DJ Ben) walked downtown and into the Georgia Theatre right as the doors opened.

By John Faussemagne After years of being the darling of the underground rap scene, JPEGMAFIA released his new album EXPERIMENTAL RAP this past Thursday to “claim the throne of experimental rap.” Since the release of LP, JPEGMAFIA (a.k.a. Peggy) went from smaller, but respected force within the rap world to an extremely well known musician who has collaborated with the likes of BTS and Ye. But, as he has gotten bigger, has he stayed grounded in his music, and continued to push boundaries… Not...

Interview by John Faussemagne Photography by Heather Marlatt via Flickr “I did a lot of wrangling when I was touring and writing music. Now I wrangle animals and kids who are a lot easier to work with.” Heather Marlatt is a multi-instrumentalist who was prominent in the late 2000s electronic music scene, best known for her work with SALEM, a pioneering witch house band.
