Resident Evil VII is not just one of my favorite horror experiences, but one of my favorite games to date, period. Not only does this game mean so much to me as a standalone experience, but it serves as an inspirational guidebook for an aspiring filmmaker like me who’s interested in genres like horror.

Lena Raine is far from an unknown name. Her soundtrack to the 2018 indie platformer Celeste is considered by many to be among the greatest video game soundtracks in existence, and Earthblade was poised to join it... that is until the game was unceremoniously canceled in December 2024 after disputes within the developing team split up ownership of the assets and code. This was heartbreaking to hear after waiting nearly 6 years for the next game from Extremely OK. Fortunately, all was not lost.

Album of the Month: Labor Days - Aesop Rock If I'm being perfectly honest Aesop Rock is not an artist I have a long history with. I've only listened to a spare few of his projects and he isn't a consistent artist in my taste at any given time. But Labor Days is an album that every once in while clotheslines me with its quality.

Album of the Month: Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You - Big Thief Since it isn't my main genre, folk typically thrives for me when it can present some kind of lyrical, tonal, meta-textual, or textural novelty which makes up for the necessarily simplistic instrumentation and song-form.

Album of the Month: Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire & Demise by Emperor From as early as their debut album In The Nightside Eclipse in 1994, Emperor stood head-and-shoulders above their contemporaries in the 2nd Wave of Black Metal in terms of ambition.

Album of the Month: Promises by Pharoah Sanders, Floating Points, and The London Symphony Orchestra Plenty of albums released shortly before a beloved artist's death receive rapt acclaim: David Bowie's Black Star and Gil Scott-Heron's I'm New Here are prime examples. But I think Promises sits king amongst them all. Artists with 30, 40, 50+ year careers tend to reach a point of stagnation, deserved or not.

Album of the Month: Se Bueno - TURQUOISEDEATH The London-based Drum and Bass artist TURQUOISEDEATH made their name with this record back in 2023, but they didn't come to my attention until the release of their third LP last year. Guardian was one of my favourite records of 2025 and was instrumental in finally getting me to truly explore the incredibly vast world of EDM. TURQUOISEDEATH are not an incredibly innovative project within their ilk of atmospheric DnB artists.

Have you ever watched a film where someone, typically a child, is seen playing an ultra-violent, comically over-the-top video game? Even if it is just for a few seconds, I’m sure you wished to play said game - because I know I have! Even if this Hollywood-made set piece of a game resembles a copycat to Grand Theft Auto or Doom, it would still remain a desire to see its interesting existence brought to reality.
