The data further firms up tentative signs of a recovery in Germany’s languishing economy after a widely followed gauge of investor morale rose more than expected last week and quarterly company earnings and export orders perked up.

Houses damaged after tornado hits Aude in southern France
PARIS, Aug 25 (Reuters) – A tornado swept through Aude in southern France late on Monday, damaging more than 300 residences and injuring 15 people, said the local administration. Social media footage verified by Reuters showed the tornado swirling above the village of Verzeille in Aude, late on Monday. Many of the homes caught up in its path had their windows smashed as a result of the high winds.

U.S. President Donald Trump last week called on Congress to pass a bill that would bring clearer definitions to the growing cryptocurrency sector. German investigators find third drone, explosives after failed airport attack, media say
BERLIN, Aug 25 (Reuters) – German investigators discovered a third drone and suspected explosives linked to this month’s attempted attack on the Leipzig/Halle airport, broadcasters NDR and WDR and the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper said on Tuesday. The drone was found on August 14, 10 days after the incident, to the west of the airport, where investigators also discovered about 50 grams (1.8 oz) of a substance they suspected to be the military explosive hexogen, the media reports said.

Aug 25 (Reuters) – The Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region was on fire following a drone attack, regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on the Telegram messaging app on Tuesday. He added that two people were killed and two others were injured due to falling drone debris on the Afipsky railway station. Ukraine has been targeting Russia’s oil refineries and other infrastructure, attempting to undermine Moscow’s war efforts and reduce financial revenue.
