wiat.com — A federal investigation is underway following a fire at Mt. Zion AME church in Williamsburg County. Both State Law Enforcement Divison of South Carolina (SLED) and The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are investigating. Authorities received the call just before 9pm. Multiple fire agencies including Williamsburg County, Clarendon County, South Lynches Fire Departments responded to the blaze. The Clarendon County Fire Department said shortly before midnight that the fire was under control. According to The Associated Press, a federal official said though the cause of Tuesday night's fire has not been determined, arson has been ruled out.

WCBD — Dionna Boatwright, 18, and Christopher Womack, 22, of Sumter, SC are charged with one count of unlawful conduct toward a child. Braden Bunch with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office says the pair's six-month-old infant was found with multiple injuries, including blunt force trauma to the face and several broken bones.

counton2.com — JetBlue flight 766 from Grand Cayman to New York's JFK airport diverted to Charleston after crewmembers reported an odor onboard. We're told officials with the Charleston International Airport received word at approximately 4:45 pm of the incident on the flight. The Airbus A320 landed safely at approximately 4:54 p.m. and proceeded to the gate. Customers are now being processed through U.S. Customs in Charleston and will continue on to New York this evening.

Orangeburg County Sheriff's Maj. Rene Williams said 24-year-old Harry Davis has turned himself in on Monday to face charges alleging he shot at a vehicle with several people inside. "Mr. Davis has been charged with four counts of attempted murder at this time," Williams said. "A bond hearing for this defendant is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday."

Kalaje Chiles was reportedly seen climbing into a car outside her home on Cannery Rd in Dalzell shortly after midnight Friday, June 26. She was located by Sumter County deputies at a home on West Avenue South in Pinewood shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday, June 28. Braden Bunch with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office say Nicholas Morra, 22 of Sumter, was also found at the home. He is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

counton2.com — A woman is recovering after being struck by lightning while getting off a plane in Columbia, Saturday. According to The State Newspaper, the woman's American Airlines flight was on its way from Hartford, Connecticut to Charlotte, North Carolina, when it was was diverted to Columbia Metropolitan Airport due to the weather conditions. The newspaper reports that as the woman left the plane, she was struck by lightning. We've learned officials were notified of the incident at about 6:30 pm. The woman was transported to a local hospital. Her current condition is unknown at this time.

Police Chief Eddie Driggers issued a termination letter to officer Sgt. Shannon Dildine on Thursday, June 25. We're told authorities learned of an image on Facebook in which Dildine was wearing only a pair of boxer shorts emblazoned with the image of the Confederate flag. In the termination letter, Chief Driggers says his that Dildine's recent decisions have rendered him incapable of effectively serving as a North Charleston police officer. Driggers adds "[t]his significantly undermines your ability to improve trust and instill confident when working with our citizens" and "it will compromise any criminal cases involving minorities with which you might be associated...". Dildine has ten days to appeal the decision.

Andrews Fire Department responded to the corner of Jones Avenue and Myrtle Avenue in reference to a fire on Thursday, June 25 at 3:32pm. Authorities say an abandoned school building at the Jerusalem Center caught fire. We're told a caretaker noticed smoke from the old pastor's wing of the building and contacted 911. WCBD — Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man allegedly took someone's bank account number to produce bogus checks. Investigators say they received a call from a woman in reference to fraudulent transactions on her bank account. According to a police report, the victim said she didn't notice the transactions until she received her monthly bank statement. Those transactions started around March 24, 2015 and continued until May 7, 2015. A total of $3826.20 was taken from the account.

Troopers say the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer was traveling north on Quail Drive, just after 11:30pm, when he ran a stop sign, crossing Academy Road, striking a tree. Authorities with Colleton Fire-Rescue said the impact of the crash uprooted the tree and caused massive damage to the small car. We're also learning the driver died of multiple traumatic injuries and was trapped in the wreckage. Academy Road near the accident was closed for several hours while Highway Patrol conducted its investigation. We're still working to learn the identity of the victim in the crash.

Crews from North Charleston Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire in the 2800 block of Glouster St., Tuesday, June 16 just after 10:00 a.m. Bianca Bourbeau with the NCFD says first arriving firefighters reported light smoke coming from the front of the single story home. We're told the blaze was contained to the garage. There were no reported injuries. The smoke alarms alerted the resident to the fire allowing the family time to evacuate quickly and call 911, according to a release. Fire officials say be sure to check your smoke alarms and ensure they are functioning. There should be a working smoke alarm outside each sleeping area and at least one on each level. In addition all residents should have a fire escape plan including closing all doors to limit the spread of smoke and heat.

Search is on for suspect in weekend shooting

WCBD — Dorchester County authorities are searching for the man they say is responsible for a weekend shooting in Summerville. Thomas Robert Shewtzuk, 18, is wanted for murder. Authorities say he has lived in Moncks Corner as well as Summerville. On Saturday, June 13, deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the BP Quick Food Mart on Highway 17-A South, Summerville. Deputies and medics found Travis Gordon dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Shewtzuk is described as being a white male with brownish hair that may be shaved. He's 5'06”, 140 lbs and has tattoos on both of his right and left hands and arms as well as a tattoo on the upper part of his left chest. If anyone has any information on where Shewtzuk can be found, please contact the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

counton2.com — An Orangeburg County man is behind bars charged with sexually assaulting a woman after allegedly breaking into her home. The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office arrested Damien Oliver, 33, of Santee, on charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree burglary, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. Richard Walker with the OCSO says Oliver was taken into custody after a Santee teenage said a man broke into a home where she lived with her mother. The teen said that around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 14, she awoke to find someone inside the home yelling demands about money. We're learning the teen's mother ran into her room but was dragged out by a man wearing what appeared to be a pair of gray boxers on his head. The man fled when he was told law enforcement was on the way. The man returned brandishing a screwdriver he may have possibly used to break into the house, according to reports. The adult female said the man grabbed her again, sexually assaulting her while threatening her with the screwdriver. The Santee man was taken before a Orangeburg County magistrate judge who deferred any bond consideration to a circuit court judge. We're told Tuesday's hearing was to ensure Oliver was informed of his rights.

A 5.5 millage increase is on the way for county operations. The increase equals out to be about $33/year for homeowners with a home valued at $150,000 and $49/year for non-owners with rental or small businesses, valued at $150,000.
