Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... Competitors paddled toward the open water Sunday morning as the inaugural Santa Cruz Paddle Classic got under way at Capitola Beach. The event celebrated Santa Cruz’s deep-rooted paddle racing tradition and enduring connection to the ocean. Race heats feature two courses: a 12-mile-long Capitola-to-Santa Cruz Wharf out-and-back course for experienced paddlers and a 2-mile short course open to prone and stand-up paddlers.
