We start from exploring phonon heat conduction in the case when the effects of scattering could be neglected (M = 0). In this case, the phonon transmission Ξ(ω) shows several Lorentzian-type resonances occurring at the eigenfrequencies of the chain (ωi) corresponding to vibrational modes. This is illustrated in Fig. 2. Note that the transmission line shapes may be noticeably affected by the coupling of vibrational phonons to the phonon baths associated with the walls. FIG. 2.
