Will County students suspended or expelled 14,225 times solely in 2023-24 school year

School administrators within Will County reportedly handed out 14,203 suspensions and 22 expulsions solely during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Illinois Report Card. In total, there were 14,313 disciplinary actions recorded during the school year, of which 14,225 were suspensions or expulsions, representing an average of 0.1 actions per student in the county. There were an additional 88 cases of students being removed to alternative settings rather than being suspended or expelled.

A comprehensive plan to address needs relevant to longer survival (e.g., psychological distress, persistent symptoms, physical function) and clinic capacity is necessary. How to deliver comprehensive survivorship care that meets national standards and results in improved patient outcomes is a challenge. Survivorship clinics staffed by advanced practice providers (APP) are an option to address these needs.

The prevalence of Addison's disease (chronic adrenal failure) has not been widely investigated and is usually given as 39 in a million. We conducted a prevalence study using a postal survey of general practitioners in Coventry. Three quarters (139/188) replied, representing 79/85 (93%) of the practices. Thirty cases of Addision's disease were found from a total patient list of 323852, of which a third were tuberculous in origin and two-thirds non-tuberculous (12/30 autoimmune, 8/30 unclassified).

Individual patient data (IPD) meta-analysis of existing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) is a promising approach to achieving sufficient statistical power to identify sub-groups. We created a repository of IPD from multiple low back pain (LBP) RCTs to facilitate a study of treatment moderators. Due to sparse heterogeneous data, the repository needed to be robust and flexible to accommodate millions of data points prior to any subsequent analysis.
