An Old Problem, an Old Device, but Perhaps a New Indication? Intra-Aortic Balloon Counterpulsation for Intracoronary Thrombus

Classification of ULK1 inhibitors and SAR analysis by machine learning methods
ABSTRACT Unc-51 like kinase 1 (ULK1), a key regulator of autophagy initiation, is a novel target for anticancer drug design. In this work, we collected 846 ULK1 inhibitors with IC50 values from 30 references. Based on ECFP_4, MACCS fingerprints, and Mordred descriptors, we established a list of classification models by using Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and Deep Neural Networks (DNN).
CARDIOVASCULAR OUTCOMES AMONG IMMIGRANTS AT RISK FOR VASCULAR DISEASES: INSIGHTS OF THE CARTAGENE STUDY
Previous authors have described the “healthy immigrant” effect whereby immigrants have better health outcomes than native populations. Nevertheless, it is unclear whether the “healthy immigrant effect” persists in immigrants at increased risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD). We aimed to compare the long-term ASCVD outcomes between immigrants and non-immigrants with and without risk for ASCVD.

EMPAGLIFLOZIN IMPROVES VASCULAR REGENERATIVE CELL CONTENT IN PEOPLE WITHOUT DIABETES
BACKGROUND Originally conceived as an antihyperglycemic agent and then approved for lowering the risk of cardiovascular death in adults living with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and known cardiovascular disease, the sodium-glucose transporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) empagliflozin is now approved for reducing heart failure hospitalizations and is under review for decreasing the risk of kidney disease progression and cardiovascular death in adults with chronic kidney disease.
INSULIN-LIKE GROWTH FACTOR BINDING PROTEIN-7 AS A MARKER OF CARDIAC REVERSE REMODELING WITH EMPAGLIFLOZIN: A SECONDARY ANALYSIS OF THE EMPA-HEART CARDIOLINK-6 RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL
Reverse cardiac remodeling is believed to contribute to the cardiovascular benefits offered by sodium-glucose transport protein 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i). Given the association between insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) levels and cardiac remodeling, it has been postulated that IGFBP7 may serve as a predictor for individuals who may derive greater benefit from SGLT2i therapy.
EFFECTS OF EMPAGLIFLOZIN ON DIASTOLIC FUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS
Expand allCollapse all Background The EMPA-HEART CardioLink-6 trial showed a reduction in left ventricular (LV) mass index by cardiac MRI at 6 months in individuals with type 2 diabetes and stable coronary artery disease treated with empagliflozin 10mg daily vs placebo, in addition to standard of care. A secondary analysis of pre-specified echocardiographic parameters to assess changes in diastolic function was performed to provide further insight into the mechanism of LV remodeling.
PREDICTORS OF DAPT USE IN PATIENTS BEYOND 1 YEAR POST MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION: INSIGHTS FROM THE TIGRIS OBSERVATIONAL STUDY

Are aberrant running biomechanics a risk factor for hamstring strain injury? A systematic review
To view the full text, please login as a subscribed user or purchase a subscription. Click here to view the full text on ScienceDirect. Introduction: Hamstring strain injury (HSI) poses a significant problem for amateur and professional athletes. There are two main types of HSI based on mechanism of injury; stretch and high speed running. This systematic review focused on the high speed running type, which is commonplace in sports involving rapid acceleration, such as athletics and football.
T1-MAPPING DERIVED CARDIAC EXTRACELLULAR VOLUME IN MIDDLE-AGED ENDURANCE ATHLETES AND RECREATIONALLY-ACTIVE ADULTS
To view the full text, please login as a subscribed user or purchase a subscription. Click here to view the full text on ScienceDirect. FiguresWhile regular exercise has been associated with improved cardiovascular health outcomes, adverse cardiac remodelling and the presence of cardiac fibrosis among some long-standing endurance athletes has raised concerns that high-volume “excessive” exercise may be deleterious.
