Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a prevalent mood disorder among children and adolescents and has severe consequences if not treated appropriately such as academic failure, substance abuse, attempted suicide, and increased risk of adult depression. To track quality and design improvement strategies in MDD treatment, it is important to assess how the care seeking pathway is shaped after initial MDD diagnosis by primary care providers (PCP) versus psychiatrists (PSY).
