What was your first job as a journalist?

Editorial Assistant at National Cattlemen magazine....had to cut my hair.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

of course. I learned to type on a typewriter in 7th grade. I own several and follow in the path of my mentors.

How is social media changing news?

for good and bad....easier to find and digest many sources in a short amount of time.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

A truth seeker. An informer. A living, loving citizen. An authentic contributor.

Who do you wish followed you?

more aspirational consumers and travelers.

Why did you become a journalist?

It was my calling since my childhood and fortunately it gave me a life and a lifestyle that is inimitable.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

of course! I was a writer and photographer in high school and college.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Anything for Men's Health....

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

do you what love, have a niche, read, show up

When's the best time to pitch you?

I'm not currently looking for pitches...just don't steal mine!

What's your favorite drink?

I love a big Hunter S. Thompson style breakfast with mimosas, bloody mary's, beer, coffee....but these days it's a lot of soda water w/ lemon

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

on a trail.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
