Court orders university to pay millions to former students

NIGERIA Nigeria’s Federal High Court sitting in Calabar has ordered the University of Calabar (UNICAL) to pay NGN55 million (US$40,440) to eight former engineering students who were admitted into an unaccredited programme at the university. The court awarded NGN50 million in general damages and NGN5.247 million in special damages to the students for the psychological trauma and academic delay they suffered.
