NOAA Drought Outlook Monthly - December
©Debra L Ferguson Stock Images During November, drought expanded and intensified across a large swath of the southern tier of the contiguous U.S., with degradations most pronounced in Texas. NOAA Monthly Drought Outlook - November
A three-pronged drought scenario continued across the contiguous U.S. during the past month, with drought conditions expanding across the Four Corners states following a lackluster Monsoon, short term drought continuing across the southern Plains with a westward shift in the most intense areas, and widespread late Summer flash drought conditions beginning to ease across the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic.
NOAA Seasonal Drought Outlook - Oct., Nov., Dec.
A hot end to the summer along with a generally suppressed convective regime resulted in numerous areas of drought development across the southern Plains, Midwest and Southeast, while spotty convection brought some relief to the areas where rainfall occurred. Larger regions of degradation spread across the Four Corners states. In contrast, above-median precipitation brought drought relief to parts of the Pacific Northwest, Northern Rockies, and Northern Plains.

Widespread rain and mountain snowfall from a series of atmospheric river events resulted in substantial drought reduction during February across California, the Great Basin, the Four Corners, and parts of the northern Rockies and Cascades. The beneficial precipitation largely missed the far southern Rockies, however, where snowpack levels remain well below normal.

Soggy french fries, spit up by a toddler who then waddled forward and weakly threw the pre-masticated goodness at our colony. This thoughtfully prepared scrap comes thanks to the pure-hearted generosity of an uncorrupted human. Love is evident in each bite. Served on a bed of half-squeezed ketchup packets.
