Effects of Rhizobium inoculation and integrated fertilization on the nutritional composition of maize ( Zea mays L.) in northwest Ethiopia
Abstract Micronutrient deficiencies remain a major public health challenge in Ethiopia, largely due to reliance on cereal-based diets with low nutrient density. Microbial biofortification using Rhizobium offers a sustainable strategy to enhance nutrient content in staple crops. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Rhizobium inoculation and chemical fertilizer application on nutritional composition of maize in northwest Ethiopia.
Bacterial profile, antimicrobial susceptibility, and associated factors of urinary tract infection among people living with HIV at Debre Markos Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Ethiopia
Abstract Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common bacterial infection among people living with HIV (PLWHIV) and can cause complications, particularly due to antimicrobial resistance. Data on UTIs among PLWHIV in Ethiopia are limited. This study assessed the bacterial profile, antimicrobial susceptibility, and associated factors of UTIs among 255 PLWHIV attending the ART outpatient clinic at Debre Markos Comprehensive Specialized Hospital from March to June 2025.
Current Advancements in Serum Protein Biomarkers for Hepatitis B Virus‐Associated Hepatocyte Remodeling and Hepatocellular Carcinoma
1 Introduction Worldwide, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV) accounts for around 90% of instances of primary liver cancer. Liver cancer caused by HBV is the second most common cause of death from cancer [1]. These days, HCC is on the rise and could soon account for one million cases annually [2]. Patients with chronic HBV infection had a nearly 100-fold higher chance of developing HCC, according to prospective cohort studies [3, 4].
Histomolecular characterisation of hepatitis B virus induced liver cancer
DNA deoxyribonucleic acid HBV hepatitis B virus 1 INTRODUCTION Hepatitis B virus-induced liver cancer, which accounts for over 90% of all primary liver cancer cases, is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide.1 Hepatic cancer is becoming more common today and may reach 1 million cases yearly.2 Prospective cohort studies have found that patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection have a nearly 100-fold increased risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Therapeutic strategies and promising vaccine for hepatitis C virus infection
1 INTRODUCTION Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a significant global health issue and causes serious liver illnesses like hepatic cancer and above 350,000 illness die because of this cancer.1 Among HCV carriers, 75%–85% have a chance of having a chronic infection, whereas the remaining 20% show the virus spontaneously clear. Among chronic carriers, 5%–20% will develop cirrhosis.
Reduced protective efficacy of hepatitis B vaccine among fully vaccinated children in Ethiopia
Loading metrics Open Access Peer-reviewed Research Article Abstract Background Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for all children at birth within 24 hours or during childhood. Objective This study was aimed to evaluate protective efficacy of hepatitis B vaccine and estimate the sero-prevalence of hepatitis B virus infection among vaccinated children. Materials and methods A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted from March, 2021 to October, 2021 in Debre Markos town.

Physiochemical Characterization of Ethiopian Mined Kaolin Clay through Beneficiation Process
Kaolin mineral is a commercially solid powder with a comparatively low level of purity and is regularly used for a variety of applications, including filler, paints, ceramics, adsorbents, and paper. In Ethiopia, the kaolin clay mineral is significant for financial growth as the raw material used in the industry sector. However, slight consideration was given to the chemical, physical, mineralogical, and morphological properties of kaolin.
