Let us be clear about one thing: Members of Richmonders for Peace in Israel-Palestine grieve for the lives of those lost following the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel by Hamas. The acts of violence against the Israelis living close to the border with Gaza cannot be fathomed by most Americans, Jewish and non-Jewish alike. However, to see the Oct. 7 events as unprovoked and senseless ignores the reality for Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.
