Abstract Olfactory decline is an early sign of Parkinson’s disease (PD), often preceding motor symptoms by years to decades. However, because olfactory impairment is also common in healthy and diseased aging, current olfactory performance tests (odor detection, discrimination, and identification) lack disease specificity. In contrast to performance scores, odor-rating-derived olfactory perceptual fingerprints provide a stable measure of how the world smells to an individual.
