What does it mean to be a journalist?
For me, it boils down to telling stories ethically, responsibly, and when called for, creatively.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
With Trump as president, there are far too many to list. Although is up there.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Slowly.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
The standards.

I will reluctantly say Instagram.

Why did you become a journalist?
Because I figured if I were going to be broke for the rest of my life, I may as well have fun in the process.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I went to performing arts high school and we did not have a newspaper, but I did help with artwork for the prom booklets and the yearbooks.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
One that I wrote about an Oris watch. I created a children's tale written entirely in verse. The brand turned it into a book, eventually.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't be afraid to add a little humor to your writing. Pieces that make people smile or laugh stay in their memories.
When's the best time to pitch you?
It's always a good time.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I was asked to do an in-person interview with Billie Jean King at her courts in New York. That was special.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I was asked to write ten articles per week for a watch publication that wanted to pay me roughly $20.00 per article. NEXT.
What's your favorite drink?
Oban, neat.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In front of a stove or grill. I'm an avid cook and absolutely love using my creativity in the kitchen.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Vanity Fair. Still.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That we are all paid by brands to write about them. I am not. I'm editorial, strictly.
