The Rights and Wrongs of "Lanterns"
Green Lantern is a controversial figure in pop culture because comic book fans absolutely adore the character due to his fascinating powerset and accompanying lore, while general audiences have completely shunned the character since his disastrous theatrical showing in 2011’s Green Lantern. Suffice it to say, "Lanterns" was under a tremendous amount of pressure to properly represent an iconic character while completely reinventing his public image.
Why We Need Longer Seasons Again
Think about the greatest sitcoms in television history -- "Seinfeld", "Friends", "The Office", "Modern Family", etc. -- all of which consistently aired around 22 episodes per season. Compare that to a popular modern sitcom like "Adults", which has a mere 16 episodes between its first two seasons combined. These measly mini-seasons take away any chance for a new comedy to flourish, especially when the episodes are limited to a 22-minute runtime.
Every New Scene in 'Avengers: Endgame Encore' Explained!
Fans began to speculate about alternate endings, additional post-credit scenes, or even altered digital effects similar to what George Lucas did with the re-releases of the original Star Wars trilogy. Now that Avengers: Endgame Encore has finally hit theatres, we have four additional scenes, each lasting around a minute, which have been inserted into the tail-end of the original film.
The 5 Best Comic Books To Read Right Now!
The newly founded MCU was thriving with projects like The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy and even ventured into television with award-winning shows like "Daredevil". Shortly after, DC followed suit with its own litany of superhero projects, and although they fluctuated in quality, audiences continuously came to theaters to see each installment. Unfortunately, this era hit some major roadblocks, which affected audience turnout for years.
5 Times The Sequel Was Better Than The Original!
Each of these iconic films sparked the beginning of enormous franchises that spanned over 10 years. Studios cannot guarantee franchises because they do not know which films will simultaneously connect with the zeitgeist while having the potential to span several installments. However, sometimes a film comes along that is so uniquely special that it becomes an instant classic.
Every Character Appearing in 'Superman: Man of Tomorrow' (So Far!)
The film had an enormous amount of pressure placed upon it because it was simultaneously salvaging the public reputation of Superman while launching a new cinematic universe. However, James Gunn is a seasoned veteran when it comes to comic book projects, and he absolutely delivered with his interpretation of the Man of Steel. The film combined high-flying action scenes with intimate character moments, all centered around a general theme of kindness that really resonated with audiences.
Every Marvel Netflix Series, Ranked!
These shows, like "Daredevil", existed in a unique, quasi-canon limbo where they seemed to be part of the larger MCU but never had any explicit crossovers that made it obvious. Despite a lack of collaboration with the theatrical heroes, the Marvel Netflix characters would eventually form their own interconnected universe that allowed street-level heroes like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones to interact.
4 Cancelled Marvel Projects We Wish We Had Gotten
Although Iron Man’s popularity skyrocketed after his first slate of films, he was still a decently popular hero prior to his theatrical debut. The Guardians were a completely different story, because almost nobody outside of some hardcore fans knew they existed, let alone who was on the team. Nevertheless, James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy would go on to be massively successful, loved by fans and critics alike, and spawn one of the most popular series in the MCU.
Everything Else You Might Have Missed From D23!
Can you really blame them, though? Disney already had jaws dropping with all of their Marvel reveals, but they did not stop there. It seems like Disney took some of their most popular films from the last several years and decided to simultaneously make sequels, just so they could announce them at this very event. On top of that, they took Ryan Gosling and made him the protagonist of his very own Star Wars film.
Marvel Announcements Dominate D23!
Marvel already blew us away at San Diego Comic-Con by announcing Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider, an all-new Black Panther, and bringing out the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. With D23 weekend coming to an end, it is clear that Disney wanted to save the biggest announcements for their own event. While D23 covers all Disney projects, Marvel Studios absolutely stole the show with major casting confirmations and trailer screenings that showed the return of several beloved characters.
The Tumultuous Journey of 'Coyote vs Acme'
It is absolutely crazy that Warner Bros. Pictures took so long to release this film, but it just goes to show that a solid premise can help a movie overcome almost any obstacle it faces. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the film features the cast of "Looney Tunes", one of the most recognizable intellectual properties of all time. Regardless of the brand recognition, the simple but effective premise has made this film one of the most anticipated comedies in a long time. Wile E.
Our Dream Cast For The MCU's X-Men Reboot!
With Avengers: Secret Wars just over a year away, Marvel Studios has begun to tease the projects that will follow this multiverse-spanning event. A new Black Panther film has been announced, Ryan Gosling is officially joining the MCU as Ghost Rider, and, most importantly, a new team of X-Men will debut in theaters in 2028! Following Jake Schreier's critical success with Thunderbolts*, Marvel Studios has entrusted him with the herculean task of rebooting the X-Men.
5 Things 'Avengers: Doomsday' Needs To Get Right
Since Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios has been consistently facing diminishing returns. Following the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, many fans felt they had reached a satisfying ending and were ready to move on. It didn’t help that Marvel decided to kick it into high gear instead of taking a few years to let anticipation build. Shortly after Endgame, Marvel announced a litany of shows that would be releasing on Disney+ over the next several years.
Everything We Learned From The 'Avengers: Doomsday' Trailer!
After much anticipation, we have finally seen the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, but so much of the story has been a mystery up to this point. This film was originally announced in 2022 as Avengers: Kang Dynasty, but due to some behind-the-scenes controversy, the actor who played Kang was dropped by Marvel. Many fans assumed there would either be a recast or the film would just be removed from the production schedule altogether.
4 Exciting Details About Christopher Nolan’s 'The Odyssey'!
Christopher Nolan is arguably the greatest working director, and it is miraculous that his films continuously increase in quality. With Oppenheimer winning 7 Academy Awards, 5 Golden Globes, and grossing $958 million worldwide, fans were waiting with bated breath to see what Nolan’s next project would be -- and if could possibly top Oppenheimer. In 2024, Nolan revealed that he would be tackling The Odyssey, a decade-spanning Greek epic which set the precedent for a whole new style of storytelling.
Behind The Troubled Release of 'Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender'
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed animated shows of all time. The show’s extremely original premise, captivating character arcs, and stunning animation made it an instant classic which transcended the network it debuted on. It is hard to believe that "Avatar" began as a simple Nickelodeon cartoon because people of all ages have grown to love it.
4 Upcoming Projects That Could End "Superhero Fatigue"
The landscape of the comic book film industry is unusual because public perception is largely shaped by two studios: DC and Marvel. While both companies have dedicated fan bases and millions of dollars at their disposal, neither is immune to releasing disappointing projects. The problem is that when both Marvel and DC underperform simultaneously, it can affect the reputation of the superhero genre as a whole. This was especially evident in the early-2020s.
5 Most Likely Villains In 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'
The footage has shown Spider-Man recreating classic comic book covers while facing villains such as Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tarantula. While it is clear that Spidey will battle his fair share of bad guys, none of them appear to be the film’s central antagonist. During the press tour, Tom Holland was asked about the movie’s main villain and described the character as "very much a secret".
5 Reasons We're Excited For 'Supergirl'!
The film earned critical acclaim and commercial success while introducing audiences to Milly Alcock's standout debut as Supergirl. Alcock is stepping into the spotlight with her first solo outing, Supergirl, arriving in theaters on June 26. Following one of DC's strongest films in years is no easy task, but director Craig Gillespie's film is on track to build on that momentum.
ICYMI: Tyra Banks Set For LIFE-SIZE Sequel... And Lindsay Lohan As Well?
Eighteen years after Tyra Banks came to life as Lindsay Lohan’s doll in the classic 2000 Disney movie, she’s coming back for round two: this time co-starring with Francia Raisa. The supermodel extrordinaire took to Instagram earlier in the week to make the announcement, posting a picture hugging Francia captioned: “It’s time y’all! You’ve waited long enough. I’m so excited to announce who will co-star with Eve 2.0...the magnificently fierce @franciaraisa.
