Writer, editor, instructor, columnist. My topics usually center on people and why they do the things they do. My three-volume anthology series, State of the Heart: South Carolina Writers on the Places They Love, includes essays by 108 Palmetto State writers of various genres. I've worked for newspapers and a statewide magazine, and have a good understanding of the South - South Carolina in particular. I helped long-time educator Bill Dufford with My Tour through the Asylum: A Southern Integrationist's Memoir, which won a Silver Medal from the Independent Publisher Book Awards. My column, "Everything and Nothing," has featured subjects as random as forgotten perfumes to the importance of friends to Critical Race Theory.
