1 Introduction The Play to Connect (P2C) parent–child programme was developed in response to the unique needs of the remote community of Wurrumiyanga on the Tiwi Islands, which are part of Australia's Northern Territory. Wurrumiyanga has a population of 1421, with 85% identifying in a recent census as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2021). The cultural context of the community has greatly influenced the programme's design, content and delivery.
