I’m a journalist and personal historian based in Brooklyn, New York.
I write about new media, creatives and new ways of working as a contributor to Upstart Business Journal. My business Anecdotable helps individuals and organizations tell their stories through memoir and oral history. I'm always open to pitches and other proposals. I like to help people in general. If for whatever reason I can't help you, I'll do my best to find someone who can. Let's get in touch.
I'll write about anything that's of interest. I'm generally trying to learn as much about the world as possible. But here's what I like to write about?
How we work. What does labor mean in the knowledge economy? I'm interested in the ways workers are managed, and manage themselves, in a world that's saturated in information. I like to keep tabs on the changing nature of the workplace, what it means to be productive and how to stay human, if that makes sense.
Freelancers, Creatives and Solopreneurs. A lot of people are forging their own path (myself included), I want to tell those stories. Additionally, what does it to take to work solo? What are the issues facing independent contractors and other sole proprietors?
New media and storytelling. I'm a daily newspaper refugee. Naturally, I want to know what's next. I like writing about new media startups, business models and the role of social networks. I don't like the word content.
History in the news. The intersection of past and present in the headlines.
Digital humanities, history tech and preservation. How is technology being used to preserve, analyze and understand our heritage?
My byline has appeared in publications throughout the U.S. including Entrepreneur Magazine, Crain's New York Business and The Arizona Republic. I've also worked as a writer and researcher for Blumsday LLC, a web-based media company that specializes in business and technology content. In my spare time I enjoy reading historical markers, hiking and going to the Met.
