Location: Banff National Park, Alberta. “I saw a couple of cars stopped on the side of the road,” explains Speijer. “I decided to park a little up ahead on the road, hoping the bears (there was a second cub, too) would walk towards me. Location: Dead Horse Point State Park, Utah. “One tree, one sunrise, one lucky photographer,” says Speijer. “I must admit, getting out of bed at 5 a.m. for a sunrise shoot, especially several mornings in a row, can lose its appeal. But being rewarded by a beautiful sunrise and no other photographers around makes me want to do it for at least another week.
