Alexander Staffa
Alexander Staffa’s Biography
Alexander Staffa began his academic journey by earning an Associate of Science degree from Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs. Following that, he attended Metropolitan State University of Denver. After nearly three decades in Colorado, Alex relocated to Amesbury, Massachusetts, where he now plans to continue his education by completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He has recently submitted applications to several schools across The Bay State as he works toward this goal.
While considering his next steps in education, Alex lives near Boston, Massachusetts. Originally from Louisville, Colorado, he now resides in a coastal region renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and steady influx of visitors. Being surrounded by people from many different places adds variety to his days and gives him a sense of connection as he plans his academic future.
Alex Staffa’s interest in Chemistry comes from a strong desire to understand the fundamental parts of the world around him. He’s drawn to the study of atoms, molecules, and reactions and how they influence daily life—from the food people eat to the development of medicine and the preservation of the environment. He enjoys problem-solving, applying logic, and working through complex ideas, all of which are part of his studies. Comfortable in laboratory settings, Alex appreciates the process of observing changes, testing theories, and connecting practical work with academic concepts. His interests include synthesizing compounds, analyzing unfamiliar materials, and contributing to research in sustainable areas.
Though methodical in his approach, Alex also brings creativity to his work, helping him think through abstract problems and explore innovative ideas. His field of study offers a wide range of possibilities, including pharmaceutical preparation, environmental science, forensics, and education.
Alex was born in Louisville, Colorado, and started skiing when he was just five years old. With easy access to well-known resorts like Copper Mountain, Keystone, Breckenridge, and Arapahoe Basin, he spent many winters on the slopes. While attending school in Steamboat Springs—also called “Ski Town, USA”—he skied 100 days a year over three seasons from 2013 to 2016. He made the most of the area’s 297 trails across nearly 3,000 acres.
For him, skiing was more than a sport. It was a way to spend time outdoors and experience the peace of nature. The mountain setting, with its clean air and snowy landscapes, gave him a sense of connection. Skiing also helped him physically, building strength and coordination while also challenging him to push his limits. It became a source of confidence. The combination of speed and control gave him a sense of freedom and balance. Beyond the physical activity, it also brought him closer to friends and family through shared experiences that created strong memories.
Outside of skiing, Alexander Staffa enjoys spending time outdoors through activities like dirt biking, hiking, and tubing. These hobbies give him the chance to stay active and explore. He especially values visits to national parks, where he’s able to see different environments and enjoy quiet, natural settings. Whether it’s riding trails, climbing hills, or floating through rivers, he finds energy in the outdoors and likes discovering new places.
In his free time, Alex also enjoys playing video games and board games. One game he often plays is Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). For someone with an interest in Chemistry, the game offers a creative space for strategy and decision-making. D&D allows Alex to build characters, explore fictional worlds, and engage in thoughtful planning. It’s a social game too, allowing him to collaborate with others, whether online or in person. The mix of imagination and problem-solving makes it a good match for his interests.
