Abstract We demonstrate an easy two-step maskless method for the fabrication of so-called compound fork-shaped gratings in nanomultilayer structures (NMLSs) based on chalcogenide glasses. Such elements allow one to generate different configurations of optical vortex (OV) beams with given topological charges (TCs). The used NMLS is particularly interesting because it enables one to realize the direct one-step writing of the surface relief without selective etching.
