What was your first job as a journalist?
As an intern at Visual AIDS, wrote an article about my experience/feelings seeing the play "Lonely Planet" in 2016.

How is social media changing news?
In every way. The access to information and misinformation goes at light speed now, relevant stories live and die within hours, not months.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I do not have a favorite fictional journalist, but my least favorite fictional journalistic 'team' is Fox News.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To tell the stories that have been ignored and need to be told. To share those with the world for others to learn from and to remember.

I don't have one.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
In emails, brief but informative with relevant links included.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Voice memo recorder on phone, notebook, pen, agenda, Microsoft Word, internet, my own personal experiences.

Why did you become a journalist?
To expose the world to history, artists, artwork that I believe is important and relevant, to expose history that has been overlooked.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
"REMEMBERING THE PAST...THE AIDS MEMORIAL INSTAGRAM", where I interviewed family members and friends that had lost loved ones to HIV/AIDS.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Continue to go to events, talks, to connect with others. ALWAYS have your business cards handy to give out to potential interviewees.
When's the best time to pitch you?
When I get off work, after 6pm, or in the morning at 8am so I can read the pitch on subway to work.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
In 2018 I was reached out to by the founder of EL CHAMP, to write on the current MET fashion show with a specific question in mind to answer.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
An artist emailed me asking if I would review their show, an artist should never do that, it opens the possibility for a negative review.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In bed with my cats working on researching for articles, writing, and working on my own art practice.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That art and art world is frivolous and that queer history/world is not relevant to everyone.
