Interview
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I love Nancy Drew and Hildy Johnson.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
It doesn't matter as long as they are actually relevant to me and my beat. Don't pitch me about a pie shop in Ohio.
Why did you become a journalist?
For the fame and fortune. (Read: To help people and complain about how little I make.)
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
"I have a story, I think you would be interested in covering - Experts Say Ergonomics Crucial in Combating Musculoskeletal Disorders."
What's your favorite drink?
Coffee. Feels pretty obvious.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Biking! Or maybe reading at the beach.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
I only cover business or "serious" news. I also get to rank bagels, write about cheesesteaks and insert Taylor Swift lyrics everywhere.
