Alexa Gorman’s Biography
Alexa Gorman is an intern at Newsday's Opinion page. Previously, she was the Online Editor of The Statesman at Stony Brook University. She blogs about the Undergraduate Student Government, the struggles of aspiring journalists, and the college students' need-to-know during campaign season.
This past summer she attended the Institute on Political Journalism at Georgetown University and interned at the Nightly Business Report on PBS.
Previously, she worked as a news reporter for The Statesman, covering campus events and university policy. She has profiled and photographed a puppeteer that makes her living through “the power of the giggle”; written a series of columns about her love affair with coffee; and covered the Town of Prospect’s Republican Caucus.
From 2008-2010, Gorman wrote for Citizens News, a weekly newspaper in Naugatuck, Conn., where she covered local government and the happenings of small-town life. In the summer of 2011, she interned at Clear Channel Radio in Hartford.
Gorman is a Journalism major at SBU, with a minor in Political Science. She will graduate in May.
