How is social media changing news?

It's allowing consumers to take in news from different angles; Twitter, Instagram, Periscope. It's all part of a new wave of journalism.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means being a direct liason between consumers and news they want to hear about.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Laptop, iPhone, portable phone charger, Twitter, MaxPreps, College basketball reference sites.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter

Why did you become a journalist?

I had to quit playing sports for medical reasons but I still wanted to be involved in games. Plus, I love telling stories.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Networking is key. When you're offered a story, say yes as much as possible. You never know who will see it.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Watching sports from one of three places: my couch, a sideline or a press box.
