How is social media changing news?
I don't necessarily think that social media is always changing news for the best. Too many false news items and clickbait

What does it mean to be a journalist?
To ME it means to provide value for the reader in whatever I write. I want to have the reader walk away from a piece learning something new.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I don't pay much attention to hash tags. Guess I should start!
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email is the best way
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Typical tools, Grammerly, spell check. No software.

Why did you become a journalist?
I have loved writing since I was old enough to know how to write. It is in my blood and always will be.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes I did, I was an editor and a photographer
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I have written and self-published a children's book on Kindle teaching kids about fire safety
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
It's not easy to make it as a writer in today's AI society but it CAN be done! Find a good mentor and learn the basics inside and out.

I have always reached out to companies, I haven't gotten pitched yet but I'm ready, send them to me!
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
I was asked to write articles on vegetable oil. LOTS of articles on vegetable oil. He didn't even care if the uses were legitimate. Very odd

With my rescue horses
