By Alison Wallington, Event Centre Manager, Kent Event Centre From gluten free to vegan, no nuts to vegetarian, we have seen a steep rise in special dietary requirements at Kent Event Centre. Is it because these diets have become trendy? Are people just much more aware and conscious of what they are eating? Or are there generally more people now than ever before with a food allergy? We believe the rise in special dietary requirements can be attributed to all of these things.

There seem to be a lot of articles offering tips on how you can improve the way you interact with your audience at events but not many explaining why you should interact with them in the first place. So why should you interact with your audience? We have focused on the top five reasons why you should interact with your audience. Some of these reasons benefit you as the host/organiser, others benefit the audience and others benefit everyone involved.
What next for the agency model?
Following on from Marriott’s commission reduction last month ‘Why Marriott's New Agency Commission Has Been A Long Time Coming’, Hilton recently followed suit, reducing group sales commission rates from 10% to 7% for hotels in the US and Canada. It remains difficult to predict exactly how the future unfolds despite Marriott being joined by Hilton.

The UK Events industry Board was formed in January 2016 as the government advisory board on the UK Events and Exhibitions sector. Its job is to: advise the Government on how to successfully implement their Business Visits and Events Strategy; look for ways to improve and promote the UK Events sector; and finally, to act as a sounding board and point of dialogue between Ministers and the industry.
