What was your first job as a journalist?

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To be able to share stories about the best - and worst - of humanity is a privilege. I'm grateful for the opportunities I've earned.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Anywhere, anytime, by any means.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

My career has included shooting w/HD cameras & editing Final Cut Pro. Lives & filing pkgs w/FTP&Satellite Phone technology. Twitter/Facebook.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Bringing CNN Intl.'s spotlight to South Africa's [rape crisis] (http://vimeo.com/7063884) & taking S. Africa's President to task about it.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

If you're knocking on the door of opportunity and hear the door lock from the other side - stop knocking...then kick the door in.
