What was your first job as a journalist?
i was a copy editor at a children's publisher straight out college ..so the only writing I was really doing was jacket copy!

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be prepared for rejection - I have been in this game nearly 20 years. I send pitches every day, and many are rejected!
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In my kitchen. I love to cook and make cocktails!
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That when we write about products, it's the same as "advertising' them - it's not! If something doesn't work, I'm not pretending it does!
