1 Introduction von Willebrand disease (VWD) is the most common inherited bleeding disorder, with an estimated prevalence of 1:100–1:10,000 [1, 2]. The diagnosis is primarily based on von Willebrand factor (VWF) levels in blood. VWF is a glycoprotein responsible for platelet adhesion and aggregation, and factor VIII (FVIII) stabilization [1]. The pathogenesis of VWD is secondary to reduced, dysfunctional, or absent VWF production as seen in types 1/2/3, respectively [1].
