What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means telling the stories of others in an effort to preserve them for future generations. It means constantly being taught something.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

We didn't have one. I tried to start one during my senior year, but it never materialized. So. No.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My cover story on PJ Morton, who is taking control of Buddy Bolden's old home and, therefore, the legacy of jazz history (& all Black music)

When's the best time to pitch you?

Any time.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A local DJ, who is a transplant, pitched me the story of how he is able to introduce local culture to other transplants through his music

What's your favorite drink?

Guinness
