Inside Christian Louboutin's maximalist apartment in Paris
French shoe designer Christian Louboutin loves houses. And he has a fair number. “There’s Portugal, Brittany, Vendée, Egypt, and Damascus,” he notes, sitting in his Paris kitchen on a sunny summer afternoon. He also has a place in Los Angeles. And there’s Vermelho Melides, the boutique hotel in Portugal, that he designed and opened in 2023, and its new beachside mate, scheduled to be ready this summer. The thing is, Louboutin doesn’t just love owning houses. He loves redoing houses.

It's about time: BIG designs spiraling green-roofed watch museum
The Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) recently completed a new museum and workshop for Swiss luxury watchmaker Atelier Audemars Piguet. It's a superb building defined by an attractive spiraling design and is topped by a green roof that helps it take its place well amid the rolling landscape. Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet is situated among the existing workshops and factories in Le Brassus, La Vallée de Joux, Switzerland.
Carolina Irving's New Tabletop Collection Sets the Scene With Rustic, Mediterranean Charm
The irony of Carolina Irving ’s latest project isn’t lost on her: “Everyone and their mother are doing tabletop,” says the Venezuelan-descended, Paris -based tastemaker who this month—with adult children Olympia and Ariadne—introduces tableware aptly named Carolina Irving and Daughters. “There’s an appeal to having a beautiful table.
Inside the World of Pierre Marie's Vivid Imagination
Every summer for the last three years, emerging design star Pierre-Marie Agin has cycled through France, creating a mental map of sorts. “I always come back loaded with inspiration and a desire to create,” reflects the native Parisian—known simply as Pierre Marie—fresh from a 17-day, 775-mile ride from Biarritz to Sète. Certainly the calm and adrenaline served him well. “Fully restored, mentally and physically,” he arrived home to open his first shop, just in time for September’s rentrée.
See Gio Ponti's Early Works in This Classical French Villa
In a quiet, tree-lined street in a suburb of Paris, a gap in the hedge reveals the two pillars of a concrete gate and, beyond that, a shady drive. What you would never know is that at the end of this drive is one of the most significant houses of the 1920s. Even more intriguing, its designer was not French but Italian, and while he would go on to become world famous, this very private home is hardly known even among aficionados of his work.
