Amit Sood’s Biography

Hi, I'm Amit.
I am a corporate dropout and solopreneur.
I found my purpose after an existential crisis in Deep Transformational Coaching, and a life of conscious downshifting to a slower and simpler living exploring spiritual alignments guided by the heart.

You would have found the old me working hard, long hours, consumed by the 'busyness' of doing one thing after another to upgrade my lifestyle. The externally focused life was rushed, tiresome and superficial, lacking in meaning and spiritually impoverished.

“Every transformation demands as its precondition ‘the ending of a world’—the collapse of an old philosophy of life.” — C.G. Jung

In 2015 I quit my two-and-a-half decade-long corporate, business-development career, to pursue conscious entrepreneurship in coaching. I’ve also been downshifting to simple, slower living while upshifting meaning and spirit. Now, one thing after another that I get to do, is internally focused. Life is lighter. Simpler. More conscious and spiritually aligned—or, at least on the path of spiritual growth.

“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.” — Joseph Campbell

How did this happen?

I started my career in '92 yet climbed up the corporate ladder rather rapidly, finding myself in top leadership positions, at a relatively young age. Then in '2010, I was fired from a company to which I fancied being indispensable. Soon, even though I got a great job immediately, I found myself quite distraught.

“I’ve never heard of anybody who awakens in their comfort zone.” — Eckhart Tolle

Getting fired, when I thought I was at the top of my game, created an existential crisis. The goals that until now, were all important now seemed meaningless. My new job was failing to provide value beyond making me richer and look more successful. And I was no longer as thirsty for social appreciation as I once was. Just money and success didn't satisfy me. I was now looking for more.

I had no idea there was another way. I had followed the typical path- go to school, get a job, get a better job that pays more, buy more, spend more. Repeat.

I'd always known that money didn't buy happiness. But now it was different- I now was living it.

“I wanted more than a job. I wanted deeper congruence between my inner and outer life.” — Parker J. Palmer

“Many people who are going through the early stages of the awakening process are no longer certain what their outer purpose is. What drives the world no longer drives them. Seeing the madness of our civilization so clearly, they may feel somewhat alienated from the culture around them. Some feel that they inhabit a no-man’s land between two worlds.” — Eckhart Tolle

I felt uninspired and disengaged. I didn't quite feel connected with my work or with the people.

There had to be some point of my work and life.

Elder Neal A. Maxwell talks of a “divine discontent” - the gap that we sense between "what we are (and) what we have the power to become.”

My crisis was the beginning of the end of my glorification of busy and unconscious consumption—and the beginning of my awakening to intentional living.

Since 2017, I’ve been exploring an intentional and conscious downshifting to a slower and simpler life. Perhaps a more purposeful life which permits some spiritual alignment that my heart craves.

In my training to become a deep transformational career coach, I saw how this work could be deeply purposeful, as well as spiritually rewarding - both for the coach as well as the coachee.

Now, help design careers that 'light up the heart'. The purpose of my life is to help create Happy Careers, Life Fulfilment and Spiritual Alignment through Deep Transformational Coaching.

In my writings, I share my learnings.
