Amrah Aliyu’s Biography
HOPING TO CHANGE THE WORLD
THROUGH THE POWER OF MEDIA.
I am a Gender and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) advocate with years of experience in Advocacy and Communications .
I am a trained advocate and campaign strategist with a major in Sciences and has leveraged the use of multimedia platforms with creative writing to advocate for a safe environment for women in my community.
I am the author of a poetry book named “Breasts are Names of Flowers and the Executive Director Salma Attah foundation for women & girls Support , a non profit designed to positively make an impact in the lives of women and girls while teaching them skills to be self sufficient for themselves.
Never studied art or journalism, I have always been a science student, the only science student that read news on the assembly ground in college, I also doubled as the vice president of Press club it would've been the president if it was based on performance but it was based on gender (they said a girl shouldn't be president when their are boys, she naturally fits in vice)
While I was pursuing my B.Tech degree in Agriculture and volunteering for my school's radio station, my passion for journalism, activism and social service grew even more and that was why i had joined some NGO's as their Media Aide and project coordinator to continue advocating for women and children. I have 3 years experience volunteering for different NGO's .
My expertise includes campaign strategy, social work, youth mobilization and community outreach.
I have an Ample experience in the implementation of media advocacy on GBV.
I have been involved in various advocacy programs as a trainer, a trainee, an interviewee and a panelist.
My quest for personal development has exposed me to several trainings, conferences both locally and internationally.
i have a good interpersonal, networking and communication skills
