Four Benefits of Reading Greek Manuscripts
There is nothing lovelier than a work created by the hand of a true artisan. This is especially true of ancient artifacts since they were, by necessity, hand-made. In many cases, people were not satisfied with a utilitarian object. Whenever possible, they put in extra effort to make it beautiful. This is the first of four benefits I have found in teaching students to read Greek biblical manuscripts. 1. They are beautiful The oldest copies of scripture, as we will see below, were indeed utilitarian.

Gig review: Stereophonics, Usher Hall
They’ve been around for nearly two decades but Stereophonics are living proof that, when it comes to performing live, polished experience can sometimes trump a willingness to experiment. Tickets to their gig at Edinburgh’s majestic Usher Hall sold out in a matter of minutes, with fans eager to watch the band play a gig in the relatively small venue as a warm-up for their upcoming arena tour dates.
10 DIY Projects for a Harvest-Themed Party
Raise your hand if you love fall! It’s my absolute favorite season – there’s nothing like fresh apple cider, crisp air, beautiful leaves and cooler temperatures. I also like the celebrations that start during fall and continue for the rest of the year. One type of celebration that’s a little less known but is a blast is a “harvest party.” Have you heard of them? It’s a party held when it officially turns to autumn, but you can hold it any time during the months of September, October and November.
Halloween Doormat
My neighbors have gotten used to seeing some of my handmade items around our place. The other day I was asked by a friend “when are you going to create a DIY doormat?” I realized that she was right – I needed to change out my every day, store bought doormat for something personalized and a bit more festive for the upcoming holiday.
Fall Apple Cider Gifts
I’m really lucky because I have great neighbors! I was lucky enough to move into a condo with a dog park, and by taking my dogs out there on a regular basis and chatting with people, I have made some good friends. One thing that I love about fall is the start of the gift giving season. This is a great gift that I can give my family, friends, and neighbors – and it only takes a few minutes to put together! I’m excited to give my neighbors this fall apple cider treat.
Jogo da memória com fotos do Instagram
Eu sou viciada no Instagram!
Items for the Perfect Movie Night
I’m a bit of a homebody – I love to go out and do things, but one of my favorite activities on a Friday night is simply staying indoors and watching a movie! Sometimes it’s a small affair, with just my boyfriend and dogs…but other times I’ll invite neighbors, friends, or family. I enjoy hosting movie nights because they are fun to put together and don’t take a lot of effort.
Six Family Games
I grew up in a family of five children and we played A LOT of games! We had an entire closet of board games that we’d break out on regular occasions – the only catch was that we had to completely put away one game before getting another out of the closet. Sometimes, when my grandparents would come into town, we’d make up our own games. My grandparents were always on board to participate in whatever we cooked up! Some of my best memories of my family come from playing games with them.
Watercolor Perpetual Calendar
The other day I looked around my craft studio and realized I didn’t even have one of the most basic elements you can have in a workspace – a calendar! I have one at home, but didn’t even think about my studio . . . which is funny because I always like to keep track of the day and date, given that they get away from me a lot (I’m forgetful!).
Washi Tape Cord Labels
Am I the only one with so many electronic cords that I can’t keep track? Between the lamps, computer, television, and everything else in my studio, I have no idea what is plugged into my power strip. The problem comes when I need to remove something from the power strip, and I don’t know what the cord goes to. So my options are to grab the cord and feed it back to the item . . .
Instagram Memory Game
I’m a huge Instagrammer! I’ve done many projects here on HP Create that incorporate Instagram, including a lamp, a passport cover, bookmarks, and canvases. I love any opportunity to incorporate my Instagram photos into a fun project, especially something I’ll use around the house! I’ve seen a few bloggers make their own Instagram memory games and decided I wanted to make one myself. This is a great gift idea for a child, significant other, or family member.
How to Make Mini First Aid Kits
Back-to-school is right around the corner, and here for many of you! One of my best friend’s daughters, Lucy, is heading to kindergarten for the first time. I helped go shopping for a backpack, a lunch box and other fun school supplies. As my friend and I were sorting through everything and stocking Lucy’s backpack, we realized we needed something – a first aid kit! Little Lucy is accident prone, so I had a fun idea for putting together a little DIY kit using a small canvas bag.
Camping Spice Holder
When it comes to camping, one of the most important things to learn is how to organize. It doesn’t matter if you are driving an RV or wearing everything on your back; you want to save as much room as possible! This cool little box keeps you from dragging a ton of heavy spice bottles around. It’s pretty ingenious really – a pill container from the drugstore turned into a spice organizer! You don’t have to skimp on seasoning your food which this handy dandy organizer . . .
Your Guide to Camping Essentials
I’ve done my fair share of camping in my life. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest where it’s part of the culture, but I also have a bachelor’s degree in Forest Conservation. So what that translates to is that I’ve spent a lot of time in the wilderness, going camping with family and friends. I love it! There is so much camping gear available these days that it’s easy to overload your car or pack with supplies.
How to Assemble the Perfect First Aid Kit
Have you checked your first aid kit recently to make sure it’s up-to-date? Neither have I. A first aid kit is an often looked over household essential that doesn’t become important until you need it – and at that point, you might not have the items you need inside. You should have one first aid kit in your home as well as your car. What items should the kit contain?
Kids Camping Binoculars
Kids absolutely love exploring! Everyone in my family are big camping enthusiasts, including my three-year-old niece. Now, she can’t go for very long, but an overnight trip is just right for her. She also enjoys day hikes (made for little legs) and poking around in the woods around her home. As a way to foster her love of camping and the outdoors, I made her a few sets of kids binoculars inspired by the project at Crafts by Amanda.
Summer Wall Hanging
I live in a complex with a TON of mature trees. I always see tree branches on the ground and wonder what I can make with them. The other day I was in the dog park and saw the PERFECT branch for a wall hanging – I grabbed it just before my dog did! I decided that I would use the branch to make a summer wall hanging with pretty colors to coordinate with my décor . . .
20 DIY Outdoor Games
Do you love spending time outdoors with the family? I’m with you there! The weather is so nice right now, and it’s time to enjoy being outside before the cooler temperatures come. At my home, we enjoy grilling and sipping drinks on the porch, but we also love a good outdoor game. We especially love modifying indoor games for outside play! If you do too, you’ll love these 20 ideas for DIY outdoor games. They are relatively easy and quick to put together.
Decorative Bicycle Helmet
I’ve been a big cycling enthusiast since I was young. When I was 11, I couldn’t wait to get my first ten-speed bicycle! Over the years I’ve had a variety of road and mountain bikes, and now I’m riding on the road again. Funny enough, I’ve also purchased a pair of roller skates recently, so that I can ride on four wheels instead of two. What do these outdoor activities have in common? They require a helmet! I actually received this white helmet as a gift, but it was way too boring for me.
Scavenger Hunt Game for Kids
My niece is two years old, almost three, and needs to be kept busy all the time. She’s so curious! It’s actually very fun, but it can be hard to think of ideas to keep her busy.
Bean Bag Toss Game
I grew up in a family of five children, and we used to get tossed outside in the summer. “Go play!” my mom would say . . . so we made up a lot of games, rode bikes, and took hikes by the lake. I always loved being outside with my brothers, and we had a few games that were our favorites. One of them was tossing tennis balls into buckets, and giving ourselves “points” depending on the bucket we were able to reach with the balls.

Beach & Shells Letter Art

Or maybe you’d just like to bring a little bit of that beach feel indoors? This is the perfect project for you! Keep reading to learn how to make it.

Monogram Pencil Pouches
It can be difficult to find cute, personalized gifts for teens or tweens. That age can be so picky – I remember being choosy myself! But one thing I always loved was anything with my name or initials on it. How can you say no to a personalized pencil pouch? You can’t really, and that’s why I’m going to show you how to make a monogram pencil pouch that makes a perfect gift for any age. I also picked up a few tips that I’ll share with you in this tutorial. For this project, I picked up a notebook and decided to monogram it with my initials.

How to Make a Monogram Canvas
Do you love seeing your initials on things? I know that I do! When I see the letter “A” on a notepad, bag, or any other bit of swag, I feel like whatever it is must be mine. I also enjoy incorporating my initials into my home décor – which can be hard to figure out how to do and still make it look good.
10 Mother’s Day Gifts in a Hurry
Do you have your gift ready for mom yet? Personally, I’m down to the wire. Like most holidays, Mother’s Day seemed to sneak up on me this year! I like to get my mom something special – something I made. My mother is one of those people who can buy anything she likes for herself, so what she really treasures are gifts created from the heart. There’s still enough time to make a great gift, but of course, some projects are more complicated than others.
How to Throw a Fabulous Cinco de Mayo Party
Do you celebrate Cinco de Mayo? It’s Spanish for the “Fifth of May” and is also a celebration held in both the United States and Mexico. I never knew this, but the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla. These days, we celebrate with colorful banners, festive Mexican food, delicious beverages, and even piñatas.
Quadros "LOVE" - HP Communities

10 Great Teacher Appreciation Printables
Teachers hold a special place in my heart. My mom was a grade school teacher – and while I was never in her class, she taught me so much over the years! Beyond basic skills you learn from your parents, she taught me how to knit, sew, and otherwise be creative. I’ve been a maker my whole life and I owe it all to her! If your child has a special teacher in his or her life, say thank you on May 5th, National Teacher Appreciation Day with a cute little gift.

Warmer weather is here, and one of the things that means to me is gardening. This year, I’m going to create a mini garden near my condo patio, and of course, I need tags to label the various plants. When I saw this post by The Prudent Garden, I was inspired to make some of my own! I created a free printable so that you can join in the fun too.

Love Photo Frames
I’m such a huge fan of Instagram! I’ve used my photos to make several projects here on HP Create, including a lamp, passport cover, bookmarks and canvases. Now I’m going to show you how to make personalized wall art using your Instagram photos . . . and you can make it using any word that you like! I’ve chosen the word “LOVE” because it’s short, sweet, and embodies how I feel about my little furry friends in the photos.
Coloquei outra miçanga no fio.

It sounds silly, but I’m actually really excited for spring this year. I’m planning on doing some serious spring cleaning in my condo! It’s not just going to be cleaning, but I’m also going to inventory clothing and see what I can get rid of. Perhaps “spring cleaning” isn’t the right terminology – I’m planning on doing an entire “spring refresh” of my living space. But this begs the question – where to begin?
Travel Money Frame
The last international trip I went on was to Guatemala and Belize. I went with my best friend, and we had such a great time!
