Is Istanbul worth visiting?
Istanbul, formerly Constantinople, holds a special place in my heart, because it was the first destination I ever visited solo. I didn't travel solo until my mid 30s - maybe it was fear or maybe just couldn't quite get out of my comfort zone of travelling with friends or family. But at 35 years old I had to have quite a big operation - it gave me a new perspective on life. 'I need to see the blue mosque before I die!' I thought to myself! And I booked the flight without hesitation.
Is Bangkok worth visiting?
I've been to Bangkok twice now and lots of other travellers ask me ' Is Bangkok worth visiting?' In a nutshell, absolutely! Bangkok has some of the most amazing temples and sites in Southeast Asia. It's also an airport hub with connecting flights for onward travel to destinations such as Cambodia and Vietnam, so it makes a great short stay layover as well. Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand is a fantastic metropolis full of temples, nightlife, shopping centres and restaurants.
Versus Yuletide, Versus Candles
I wanted to tell a story about a ghost for Christmas, but the only story I had to tell started with a Welsh candlesnuffer. This is an object, not a person; there was not a man from St Asaph lurking in a back room somewhere, emerging only to extinguish flames that had burned too long. Best Temples Angkor Wat
I’m embarrassed about this one – I’m temple seeker, but I’ve still NEVER been to Angkor Wat. I kinda got sucked into the temples of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai during my Thailand trip and never actually made it over the border to Cambodia. There’s plenty of time of course – I will probably spend a good few weeks there! But until then, I called in on a few top travel bloggers to fill me in on the best temples Angkor Wat.
