Anais Amin’s Biography
Anais Amin, based in Los Angeles, melds journalism, marketing, and community engagement in her professional endeavors. She holds a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University and has built a career in radio production, brand management, and advocacy. She is passionate about storytelling and social justice and uses her platforms to champion positive change.
She grew up in Los Angeles, California, and attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for her undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English. While at UCLA, she was deeply involved in student government, holding one of 14 paid and elected positions representing over 30,000 undergraduates. In this role, she advocated for social justice, increased access to higher education, and enhanced mental health services for veterans. She also managed a team of 40 volunteers to further these causes and moderated a political debate for candidates vying for a U.S. House of Representatives seat.
After completing her bachelor’s degree, Anais pursued further education at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where she earned a Master of Science in 2020. Her studies focused on a blend of audio, text, and video journalism. Her capstone project was a comprehensive 5,000-word analysis of a Syrian refugee family’s journey to the U.S., complemented by a published story about her family’s escape from genocide and a video project on medication-assisted recovery.
During her time at Columbia, she also investigated and reported on civil and criminal courts in the Bronx, delivering impactful stories on topics like sexual abuse in Orthodox schools and the overuse of force by private security personnel.
Anais began her professional career in radio production, working from January to December 2022 as a production assistant at Marketplace, an award-winning public radio program by American Public Media (APM). Her responsibilities included researching and pitching interview topics, pre-interviewing guests, and editing audio segments. She also wrote scripts for hosts and produced digital content for the organization’s website.
Before her full-time position, she interned at Marketplace from June to December 2021, assisting in guest booking, show preparation, and interview editing. She previously worked at KPFK Radio 90.7 FM from 2017 to 2019, where she developed weekly show topics and produced quality radio segments.
In addition to her radio and journalism experience, Anais excels in marketing and brand management. She is a fashion manufacturer's Marketing and Brand Manager, managing multi-million-dollar accounts and leading marketing initiatives. Her past roles include serving as an executive assistant at a dental lab, overseeing marketing and operations, and interning in PR and marketing at The Borgen Project, where she helped secure legislative support for poverty reduction.
Anais also dedicates time to volunteer work at animal shelters and a horse ranch for special needs children. She has actively participated in various political and social causes, including volunteering for local political campaigns and supporting charitable foundations.
In her personal life, Anais is an accomplished oil painter and photographer. She enjoys integrating her artistic skills with her professional and activist endeavors. She loves the outdoors, frequents museums, and immerses herself in different cultures. She is fluent in Armenian and English and is also enhancing her Spanish language skills.
