Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

While an undergrad at UC Davis, I founded a political journal: "The Revivalist: A Moderate Voice in an Extreme Time."

How is social media changing news?

It's now the source for understanding the meaning of news events. We connect and socialize through sharing/commenting on breaking news.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means speaking truth to power and changing the world, and helping people live more inspired lives.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Brief email.

Who do you wish followed you?

Ronan Farrow. He's hilarious and probably the only other person who idolizes Hillary Clinton as much as I do.

Why did you become a journalist?

To speak truth to power and change the world, and help people live more inspired lives.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Choose your editors wisely. Your first editors help you develop your habits. Shoot to work for the best. Spot a bad editor? Leave.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime.
