New Findings in the Multidisciplinary Management of a Fetal Intrapericardial Teratoma: A Case Report
Introduction: Fetal intrapericardial teratoma is a rare tumor that can be diagnosed by antenatal ultrasonography early in pregnancy. Case Presentation: A fetal intrapericardial teratoma was detected on routine ultrasonography in the second trimester of pregnancy. Metaverse - Expectations Vs Reality, Part 2: The Costs
In part 1 I addressed the technical reasons why Ready Player One – customer and user’s expectations – is still years away. But the unrealistic expectations of the public regarding the metaverse involve another field. As co-owner of a small VR company, I find myself quite often obliged to disappoint people that think the metaverse and immersive technologies are cheap. In this second part, I will very briefly explain the great obstacle of costs.
Metaverse - Expectations Vs Reality, Part 1: Technological Possibilities
I believe it is necessary to address the gap between customer or audience expectations and actual reality. From my personal experience (I have a small VR company), I realize that there is still a lot of confusion. But I want to make a premise on the metaverse first. First Things First: Metaverse Doesn’t Exist Yet The point is that the metaverse, whatever it is, does not exist yet. So when I say metaverse, what I mean is immersive technologies + blockchain-related digital assets (NTFs and crypto).
Metaverse And Investing - Opportunities For Retail Investors Part 2: Software And Infrastructure
In the first part, I dealt with investing possibilities in hardware that will take us to the metaverse. Today I will delve into other opportunities. Software The metaverse is going to be made of many souls. This implies an enormous variety of software that will be used for its construction and for its application in our lives. We will need platforms to navigate, meet, and study. Or AR applications that can be easily customized by those who do not have the money to make their own.
Metaverse And Investing - Opportunities For Retail Investors Part 1: Hardware
The metaverse has fast become a buzzword. Articles have been written on every possible related aspect. But I feel there is a certain lack of pieces on the investment opportunities that Web3 offers. Premise Let’s take a step back. What is the metaverse? This encompassing term indicates several things.
Why We’re Not All Wearing AR/VR Headsets
Are you wondering why we don’t all have a VR or AR headset on our heads? I think there are three reasons: technological, economic, and psychological. There is no revolution taking place at the moment. If we look back years ago, spatial computing (AR and VR) made great progress. But its adoption did not go from 0 to 100. It, perhaps, went from 0 to 10. So, it lacks the speed and disruption that is needed to talk about revolution. The tendency to hyperbole is no surprise. It is widely used by the media.
Shaping and properties of thermoplastic scaffolds in tissue regeneration: The effect of thermal history on polymer crystallization, surface characteristics and cell fate - Journal of Materials Research
Abstract Thermoplastic semi-crystalline polymers are excellent candidates for tissue engineering scaffolds thanks to facile processing and tunable properties, employed in melt-based additive manufacturing. Control of crystallization and ultimate crystallinity during processing affect properties like surface stiffness and roughness. These in turn influence cell attachment, proliferation and differentiation.
