Quantitative MRI of the mesoesophagus: normative values and anthropometric determinants in healthy participants
Abstract MRI-derived assessment of the mesoesophagus has not been investigated in-vivo. This study aims to establish quantitative MRI-based mesoesophageal parameters. Prospectively, monocentric, 81 healthy participants underwent 3T navigator-triggered T1w-Dixon, 35 participants axial T2w-MRI additionally.

Performance of GPT-based large language models in hepatocellular carcinoma stratification: liver function assessment, BCLC staging, and treatment recommendations
Abstract Large language models (LLMs) like GPT have been proposed to support complex clinical decision-making. This study evaluated the performance of GPT-based LLM in analyzing clinical, radiological, and laboratory data from patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to assess liver function, assign BCLC stage, and recommend treatment. Data from 106 HCC patients (82% male, median age 65 [22–86]) were compiled into anonymized integrated reports.
Managing the aftermath: complications and outcome after colorectal resection for deep infiltrating endometriosis—insights from a certified surgical endoscopy center
Abstract Deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) often affects the bowel and may necessitate colorectal resection. While protective ileostomy can reduce complications, it carries relevant morbidity. This study evaluates endoscopic complication management and long-term outcome of patients treated at a certified surgical endoscopy and endometriosis center. All patients undergoing interdisciplinary surgery for DIE (2015–2024) were retrospectively included.

Cell-Free DNA and Circulating Tumor DNA as Diagnostic and Prognostic Tumor Markers in Adenocarcinomas of the Gastroesophageal Junction - Pilot Study
Background: The incidence of adenocarcinomas of the gastroesophageal junction (AEG tumors) is increasing. There is a need for longitudinal markers to predict local recurrences and optimize disease-free survival in the multimodal therapy of AEG tumors, both in preoperative diagnostics and follow-up care. Circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) are promising tools to address this question.

Comparison of short-term outcome of esophagectomy between open, hybrid laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery: a retrospective single-center cohort study
Background: Robotic-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE) is increasingly used for the treatment of esophageal cancer. The aim of this work is the primary evaluation of the short-term clinical outcome of RAMIE compared to the laparoscopic hybrid technique (HE) and open abdominothoracic esophagectomy (OE).
