Andrea Stone is a freelance writer and journalism consultant who most recently helped the next generation of journalists get their start as director of career services at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. A veteran journalist with more than three decades experience in Washington, D.C. and New York, she helped lead the team that launched the website of Al Jazeera America, worked as a senior national correspondent for The Huffington Post and Washington bureau chief for AOL News.
Before going digital full-time in 2009, she spent 24 years at USA TODAY, covering national news, the Pentagon, presidential and congressional politics, Capitol Hill, foreign affairs and business. She has reported from 47 states and more than two dozen countries, including conflict zones in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq and Israel and the Palestinian territories.
