Abstract From symmetry considerations, pyroelectric crystal is expected to be piezoelectric at least in its polar direction. This work demonstrates synthetic method based on enantio-specific co-doping of centrosymmetric crystals. By choosing appropriate co-dopant with coincident contribution to pyroelectricity and opposing contributions to piezoelectricity, one can enhance the first while suppressing the second. Thus, break the linkage between the effects.
