What was your first job as a journalist?
In many ways I owe it all to Paul Tomkins at The Tomkins Times. They were the first place to publish me, then paid me when I went freelance.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
The Beatles' Paperback Writer.
Why did you become a journalist?
I enjoyed writing as a hobby, and so when I was made redundant by my previous employer I took the plunge. I'm so glad I did.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
An incredibly simple article on Rafa Benitez, when I first started blogging, as he became aware of it and mentioned me by name at an event.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Write as much as you can. I built up both my profile and my ability as a writer by posting on my blog as frequently as I could.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
For football, I enjoy the Jonathans: Liew and Wilson, who can both be found at The Guardian.
